Stories

Welcome

In 1887, James Adam boldly opened his auctioneering business on the edge of Stephen’s Green. Without internet or even phones, he relied on a small ad in The Irish Times and word of mouth in order to grow his business.

135 years later and we’re still here! But, whilst we may trade in antiques, we don’t want to operate as one and hence, the Adam’s Stories are born. In this space, we, the employees, hope to share a glimpse into our world
– i.e, the chaotic whirlwind of glamorous jewels, priceless artworks, dusty pieces of history and enough oddities to keep even the most curious of humankind busy. We will give you sneak peeks into our auction setups, articles on our most interesting lots and insights from outside influences who have made their living in the design world.

If there’s one thing that all who work in Adam’s can safely agree to it’s that we never stop learning. Even the most seasoned of us can be stumped at times and forced to retreat to the knowledge of a specialised book or two. With some luck, we’ll be able to share this knowledge with you.

So watch this space to find out the latest from no.26!
