LOT 71. 12.29cts, Fancy Intense Yellow, VS1
I mean, this piece really does speak for itself. I am a huge yellow diamond fan and the second I saw this pendant, I was immediately taken by it. It is a real showstopper, but at the same time not overwhelming.
(Est. €55,000-65,000)

LOT 72. FRENCH, CIRCA 1945-50
I love a brooch for many reasons, they can really elevate any outfit, but this piece in particular caught my eye. Not only is it a beautiful double clip, but the design means you can wear it in more ways than one. I love anything that is multi-purpose and allows you to add your own spinto it and I think this piece is as fun as it is gorgeous.
(Est. €4,000-5,000)

LOT 136. BULGARI, CIRCA 1980.
This is more than a piece of jewellery, it is a piece of history. I was immediately taken by the boldness of the contrasting silver coin and gold chain, and when I learned of the coin’s significance and story I was blown away. I can immediately understand why this is collectable and definitely a piece that will stick with me.
(Est. €15,000-25,000)

LOT 174.
This necklace is truly stunning. There’s just something about the richness of the rubies and the way they fall on the neck, that I find to be so elegant. I also love the subtle fastening around the back, it is a really well thought out piece, simply perfect.
(Est. €8,000-9,000)

LOT 121. CARTIER, CIRCA 1965-70
Another wearable piece of history and art. I love the boldness of this piece and its origin story. The drape is so flattering, and I think a piece like this can be worn with almost anything and it just adds so much glamour. I mean, if it’s good enough for Jackie Kennedy, it’s good enough for me!
(Est. €7,000-8,000)

LOT 35. KASHMIR, CIRCA 1890-1900.
Another showstopping ring that has so much character as well as beauty. I love sapphires and this piece is really unique and interesting tome. It is truly timeless.
(Est. €50,000-90,000)

LOT 70. 12.48cts, Fancy Intense Yellowish Brown, VS1
I’ve never before had a visceral reaction to a piece of jewellery, until I met this ring. The second I saw this piece, I got goosebumps! For me, this ring is perfect. The setting, the clarity, the cut, everything. I mentioned how much I love a yellow diamond, but the soft brown tone of this specific stone is just so special.
(Est. €30,000-40,000)

LOT 19. ETRUSCAN REVIVAL. CIRCA 1860.
This is such a charming piece! Another clever feat of engineering. I can’t help but smile when I see these charms and the coral stones are so pretty. It sits so nicely as a necklace but when worn as a bracelet I think that’s when it really shines.
(Est. €1,500-2,500)

LOT 12. ALHAMBRA, VAN CLEEF & ARPELS.
The Van Cleef necklace is obviously so iconic, but I’ve never seen one with this colouration. I really love the earthiness in the tones, and the way the light reflects through is super unique and eye catching.
(Est. €6,000-8,000)

LOT 182. AQUAMARINES, MARGHERITA BURGENER.
These earrings are straight out of a fairytale. The purity of the aquamarine is remarkable and the set of the diamonds make for an irresistible set of truly stunning earrings. The second I tried these on I felt like a princess.
(Est. €3,800-4,200)

Important Irish Art Auction Highlights

Oliver Dowling Collection by Aidan Dunne

2024 is a year in which Adam’s wants to recognise the key role buying antique furniture and furnishings at auction contributes greatly to the sustainable initiative. In 2019 the Environmental Protection Agency reported stark figures that each year in Ireland 1.2 million reusable bulky items, primarily furniture goes into landfill. Similar to the problem of ‘fast fashion’, the constant production and consumption of new items is leading to rapidly growing waste problem. We want to acknowledge those who are already buying second hand or antique furniture at auction and to encourage new buyers by highlighting the benefits of acquiring affordable, well-made quality items that are built to last.

Yvonne Aupicq had met Orpen, we understand, while working as a nurse during the war. He had been admitted to hospital with a suspected case of scabies which ended up being a far more serious case of blood poisoning as he recounts in his wartime memoir ‘An Onlooker in France’. Their relationship continued after 1918 when Orpen was appointed as the official artist to The Paris Peace Conference. They relocated to capital and over the following decade he painted her numerous times, often nude as in Amiens 1914, or The Rape and Nude Girl Reading (1921). Working with her as his model during these early years after the war allowed Orpen an opportunity to re-fuel his creativity.

"Beating the bounds is a tradition that can be traced back to the medieval period. At this time, land was divided into parishes and the clergy and church wardens held the responsibility for its upkeep and management. It was up to the Church to ensure that its parishioners knew the local boundary lines and, before maps became commonplace, this had to be kept as a mental record."
