Charlotte Simmons (née Phelan) grew up in Ireland. Rooted in that distinct gift for turning ordinary moments into a celebration, she carries that exact instinct into every project that follows.
She met her husband Ben at boarding school in Ireland. Together they co-founded Little Island Group, a family of boutique hotels and an in house event and design practice on Harbour Island and North Eleuthera in The Bahamas.
What began with a single family property, The Ocean View Club, has grown to three: The Other Side, a solar powered escape across the bay, and The Farm, an inland working operation of some 200 garden beds and 160 chickens that feeds the kitchens across the group. A fourth property, The Current, is presently in development.
Charlotte leads Little Island Design, the group’s event arm, and has produced more than three hundred weddings and celebrations across the properties. Her signature is a cultivated calm set against the wildness of the Bahamian coast, guided by a principle that runs through everything the group makes: simple but beautiful, easy but elegant.
Home is split between Harbour Island and Ireland with Ben and their two children, and a quietly growing collection of small, considered hotels.

2024 is a year in which Adam’s wants to recognise the key role buying antique furniture and furnishings at auction contributes greatly to the sustainable initiative. In 2019 the Environmental Protection Agency reported stark figures that each year in Ireland 1.2 million reusable bulky items, primarily furniture goes into landfill. Similar to the problem of ‘fast fashion’, the constant production and consumption of new items is leading to rapidly growing waste problem. We want to acknowledge those who are already buying second hand or antique furniture at auction and to encourage new buyers by highlighting the benefits of acquiring affordable, well-made quality items that are built to last.
